Where it all began...WE MAKE
WHAT WE LOVE

Necessity is the mother of all invention. While you could debate whether or not the
availability of traditional ales is indeed a necessity, for Co-Founder Alex Buck, the need was real.

01. EUROPE

During a libations tour of Europe ten years ago, Alex was taken by the remarkable quality of the local brews and couldn’t understand why the US was so devoid of such tasty concoctions. Unable to get his fix back home, he committed to learning everything about brewing in order to slake his thirst for traditional ales by brewing his own.

02. CHICAGO

Around the same time, Ben’s love of beer was transitioning from consumption to creation. As he and some good friends watched their first batch of home brew bubble away on their Chicago apartments shoddy stove, they concluded that the only thing that could be more fun than making and drinking beer would be making and drinking beer for a living.

03. FRIENDSHIPS

Meeting through a mutual friend, Alex and Ben quickly discovered they shared the same brewing and distilling dreams as well as the desire to lay roots for their families in the Wood River Valley surrounded by the joy and beauty of the mountains. Warfield Distillery & Brewery was born shortly thereafter, giving both the chance to make a dream reality.

04. OUR CORNER

If you’ve lived in the valley long enough, you have more than a few great and/or foggy memories that were created in the old brick building on the corner of Sun Valley and Main. From the crazy nights back in Ketchum’s drug-laced heyday, to frosty sunset pints at Rosie’s with friends on the best deck in town; the stories make The Corner legendary.

05. A FORMER GLORY

That hallowed corner that anchored downtown Ketchum and once housed the infamous Slavey’s Bar had been sitting forlornly vacant. It was in a slump, and it needed some love. The chance to bring the much-loved building back to former glory was too enticing an opportunity to pass up. Giddy at the prospect of brewing and distilling right on Main Street, we set out to make it happen.

06. RENEWED

From the reclaimed wood bar top, hewn from a single beam that was once part of the old Murtaugh School Agricultural building, to the prominent display of large images of Slavey’s, the renovation gives a proper nod to the past while squarely focusing on the present and future. Through the tireless work of countless locals, The Corner has been brought back to life.
